a silver production question

hi, kephra in an article in the notebook section you write..

Metallic Silver, Uncapped, 20ppm

250ml distilled water, hot
5 drops 1Molar Sodium Carbonate*
Pure Silver Anode (positive electrode)
Electrode spacing 1.5 inches
15ma current for 5 minutes (75 ma-minutes)
Continuing heating for addition 10 minutes or until no further color change.
Note:  Conversion from Ionic to Metallic Silver will probably not be complete

what am i to do to be sure that conversion to metallic silver will be complete?

To be sure, you have to add a reducing agent like Karo or maltodextrin.

ok my mistake here..i thought you mentioned a reducing agent ..but this is heat reduction..

i use corn syrup for reduction ..but there are times that i notice a slight metal smell in the finished product ..i follow the 2) The Making of Colloidal Silver -- Part 2 - Production Techniques article ..any thoughts what can be wrong here?

Probably nothing. If there is an odor, it is coming from something else.
