Silvertron Elite - Red Lead seems to be the problem
« on: November 22, 2015, 06:50:24 PM »
Good evening all
I have a silvertrone elite.  Since a few days it is not working properly anymore.  It is not the silvertron itself it is the contact from the red lead it seems
The device is turning on, i connect the electrodes put them in the water then i press start.  Nothing happens i stays on 0% forever.
The issue started a few days ago so i decided to reinvestigate later. Today i switched elek plug hoping it was the issue.
Happy days for a few minutes because my first batch of 500 ml came out ok although it lasted more then 5 minutes so  it took more time then it should.
I had issues with the red cabel  a few weeks before, the red lead came out of it s connecter. i had to remove the cap from the connecter that is i plugged in to the Silver Tron Elite so i could reconnect the lead. Then it worked it again for a few weeks.
I checked the water and the bar it is not giving out any silver... it is not getting any electric voltage i think....
Any suggestions how to fix the red lead before ordering a new one ?
I m not a handy but i don t have much experience fixing stuff but it feels like worth a try as i m not touching the contact contacted to the silvertron.
We can always try right

The banana plug that connects to the ST is probably with 3 pieces.

Unscrew the red cap from the lead.

Unscrew the metal ring toward the banana shaped connector portion.

Pull out the red wire from the connector.

Cut off the damaged portion, about 1/2 inch.

Strip the red insulation from the end.

Twist the wires tightly and feed it through the hole on the inside of the connector.

Re-install the metal ring and tighten as much as possible

Re-install the red cap.

Test it by setting the ST to 5 ma, press START, and then touch the leads together.  The current should come up to 5.

There is the unknown and the unknowable.  It's a wise man who knows the difference.

I just came to the same conclusion after contacting you.

the cabel seems to be scattered at the end where i reconnected it the last time ... The copper is clearly damaged

I don t have equipment here to cut it off but i will fix this next weekend.

Thanks in advance for the support .
