Floaters?
« on: October 08, 2018, 05:32:41 PM »
After a few weeks my 20ppm I start to see some floaters in the solution. What are these? What can I do?

Yes, just filter or decant. There is nothing in there which is harmful anyway.

Filtering makes sense. Is is standard to filter the solution right after making Colloidal Silver or do you wait until you start seeing these types of floaters?

I only filter Colloidal Silver if there is visible matter in suspension, which should be rare.

I've never had to filter what I made with the SilverTron Elite. I have never encountered anything floating or otherwise strange about any batch I've made with this unit!

Those "rumors" about the SilverTron Elite being able to consistently produce crystal clear high quality silver nanoparticles are no longer rumors! This from a guy who has made over 100 batches of 320 ppm where the only problem I have ever had was due to user error.....yes, I screwed up, not the SilverTron!

I think floaters may be due to not cleaning the bullion bar and other rod? Do notice a black film develops on the bullion bar. Should I be cleaning it after each batch creation? If so, what is the best way to clean? Just rinse with water after using?

Heat the silver electrode until the bar or rod goes white. Don't overdo it or you will melt the electrode. This is better than wiping the electrode, as you will not lose any silver this way.

A handheld propane torch works nicely.

I use THIS:

 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bernzomatic-TS4000T-Trigger-Start-Torch-Head-TS4000T/202185055?keyword=Bernzomatic+TS4000&semanticToken=212t00000+++%3E++++st%3A%7Bbernzomatic+ts4000%7D%3Ast++cnn%3A%7B0%3A0%7D+cnr%3A%7B8%3A1%7D+cnb%3A%7B9%3A1%7D++bernzomatic+%7Bbrand%7D+ts4000+%7Brest%7D++dln%3A%7B571022%7D+qu%3A%7Bts4000%7D+oos%3A%7B0%3A1%7D

And DO pay attention to the amount of heat you apply.  You CAN melt the silver with this.  Heat enough to make the black disappear.

The floaters COULD be because you wiped the silver with some sort of cloth that left lint on the electrodes.
