ZeroWater Has anyone tried one of these

If they actually work, they might be a good substitute for a home distiller.

The comments on this topic relative to ionized water have been moved to "Ionized Water"

I have now obtained a gallon of ph balanced water from a korean made machine.

Made some cs and it turned out very well. I did not use any salt. Both silver rods turned black very quickly and there was no visible action on the rods as there is when using salt. I cleaned the rods every minute or so. After 15 minutes it started to turn a very light yellow. At 20 minutes i removed the rods and added some corn syrup, it immediately started getting darker. I left on heat for 5 more minutes.

The solutions is very clear and has no taste. Picture attached.

You shouldn't need any with all that hydroxide in the water.  It looks like pretty good CS from the picture.

Interesting question.

If you are using constant current/hot water/salt, then pH7 is perfect, as you will be creating sodium hydroxide which raises the pH of the water.

If you use sodium hydroxide as the initial electrolyte, then it will be slightly above pH7 at the start, but again it will climb some.

There is no point in starting with a pH below 7, as the sugar based reducing agents (maltodextrin, corn sugar, invert sugar) need to be in a solution which is basic, above pH7.

The point is though that the solution is going to change from the electrolysis producing sodium hydroxide, and probably gluconic acid if you add corn syrup at the start.

So I would say, pH7 is an ideal starting point.

So, what is the ph of distilled water?

It should be 7.  It will absorb carbon dioxide when exposed to air so may be slightly less than that.

I mistakenly diluted the cs i  made with the ph machine with tap water. At the time all seemed fine, but next day it turned a thick muddy color. So i did the same thing with the cs i usually make from distilled water and turned clear.

What does this mean?

Well it sure made a mess of your CS.  Other than that, you would have to know what is in your tap water.

But why do you think the ph machine cs turned brown and the distilled water cs went clear, when mixed tap water?

I can only guess that the high hydroxide content of the alkalyzed water was enough to overcome the stabilization effect of the double layer and caused the particles to grow.  This sometimes happens with the addition of peroxide.  Why it turned clear with distilled water, I don't have any idea.

Given these results I am thinking that using distilled water is probably more desirable.  For example, suppose you make your cs stronger with the intension of diluting it with whatever water you can, or have available at the time (in the case of traveling to another country). It wouldnt be so shocking if it turned colorless as apposed to mud brown.
